Tommy Boyd Obituary

Tommy Boyd, age 61, was born in Tippah County Mississippi on January 12, 1962, to the parents of the late Hollis and Linnie V. Carroll-Boyd. He began his celebration of life on April 26 2023, at NMCC in Tupelo, MS with his loving wife, along beside him.

Tommy Joe began his life of knowing Christ at an early age. He was a member of Saint James Temple Church of God in Christ in Ripley, MS under the leadership of the late Superintendent Bernell and First Lady Alma B. Hoyle later, First Lady, Mother Barbara Jones- Hoyle and now Superintendent Robert D. and First Lady Shirley Fleming. There he remained an active member until transition of life.

Tommy Joe graduated from Ripley High School, in Ripley, MS. After graduating, he became a student and graduate of Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville, MS where he continued in the ROTC program. After college, he began working at Bench-Craft Inc. in Blue Mountain, MS as a Seat Builder. Later in life, Tommy Joe met the love of his life, Mrs. Joyclin Barnett-Boyd. Tommy Joe and Joyclin united in Holy Matrimony on January 22, 1988. Not only did he find love within Joyclin, but he gained four beautiful daughters; and a son that they were blessed with through God.

Tommy Joe leaves his cherished memories to his wife; Mrs. Joyclin Boyd; four daughters; Tonya M. (Rufus) Crum, Kimberly R. (Cleveland) Fox of Ripley, MS, Bridget C. (Anthony) Fox of Michie, TN, and Brandie T. Pate (Marques Jones), one God sent son, Charlie Wade all of Ripley, MS; and two God- Daughters, Mary Jane (C.L. Hoyle) and Annie Gray; twelve grand-children, Brittni (Vashon), John, Ajaya (Shaquille), Victoria, Joshua, Jeremiah, Jessica, Armani, Brooklynn, Marques Jr., Noah and LovLee; seven great-grandchildren, Camren, Kaydean, JourNee, Justice, Jayce, Denver and Dallas; three beautiful sisters, Letha A. Boyd, Sally M. Boyd, all of Ripley, MS and Shirley (Superintendent Robert D.) Fleming of Pontotoc, MS; one brother, Frankie L. (Rita) Boyd, one special aunt, Aunt Elizabeth Rutherford; one brother-in-law, Lee Earl Riddle; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Carroll and Robin (Larry) Vernor and a host of special nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents Hollis and Linnie V. Carroll- Boyd; one sister, Hazel Riddle; one brother, Wiley Carroll, and mother and father-in-law; King and Mother Shirley Barnett. Tommy Joe loved and cherished his family. And they loved and cherished him right back.

A special thank you to our niece, Mrs. Lajuana (Whoo) Elliott and the Diversicare Nursing Home of Ripley, MS and the Emergency Room and ICU Unit at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.

Visitation will be Friday, May 5, 2023, from 12p-8p at Foster & Son Funeral Home, Ripley, MS with the family present from 6p-8p. Funeral service will be Saturday, May 6, 2023, 12p at Saint James COGIC, Ripley, MS. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will follow at Saints Rest Cemetery, Ripley, MS.
