Roderick D. Rogan, 44, was born on September 16, 1974 to Linda Kay Rogan and John D. Jackson. He was raised in Ripley, MS by his mother Linda Rogan Simpson and her husband Paul Simpson, Sr. He went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2019 at his home in Indianapolis, IN.
Roderick was very kind and he loved life. He loved all of his family dearly. During his illness, he never complained. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say to everyone. Roderick loved sports and fishing. He played football and baseball with the Ripley Tigers. He graduated from Ripley High school in 1993. His favorite professional football team was the Tennessee Titans.
He accepted Christ at an early age. He joined St. John Baptist Church where he served as a Junior Layman and he song in the male choir. He was a Master Mason with St. John Lodge #334 until he moved to Indiana.
He leaves to cherish his memories: mother, Linda Kay (Paul) Simpson of Ripley, MS; father, John D. Jackson of Indianapolis, IN; brothers, Deranzo Prather and Paul Simpson, Jr. of Ripley, MS; Pauline Young of New Albany, MS; and a special friend, Neeli Carpenter of Indianapolis, IN; and a host of family, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 3, 2019 from 12:00 noon- 8:00 pm at Foster and Son Funeral Home in Ripley, MS, with the family present from 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm. Service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:00 am at Ripley Second Baptist Church in Ripley, MS. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Boyd Cemetery in Ripley, MS. Services entrusted to Foster and Son Funeral Home of Ripley, MS.
