Minnie Okada Spight Hatch was born August 8, 1954 to the late Lawrence and Earnestine Spight. She confessed Christ at a young age at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Blue Mountain, MS and later moved her membership to Bethlehem Baptist Church in Falkner, MS where she was a loyal Sunday School teacher and was faithfully involved in the following ministries through the years: youth, usher, and Deacon’s wife (Missionary) until her health failed.
She worked at Tippah County Department of Human Services for 25 years. After retiring, she began helping adults with Special Needs get jobs and was a substitute teacher for South Tippah Schools.
Minnie passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, July 14, 2023.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories: One daughter, Tiffany (Danny) Elzie of New Albany, MS; Two sons, Johnathan (Trinity) Hatch of Blue Mountain, MS and Tito (Kym) Gibbs of Tiplersville, MS. Two brothers, Robert (Odessa) Spight of Ripley, MS and Lawrence Spight, Jr. of Blue Mountain, MS. Two sisters, Betty Simmons and Sarah (Elmer) Johnson both of Blue Mountain, MS. Two sister-in-laws: Bettie Spight of Blue Mountain, MS and Elizabeth (Terry) Smith of Falkner, MS. 11 grandchildren: Janessa, Jathan, Kelany, Keeley, Davian, Zellack, Ivy, A'Vera, Asher, Brayson, and Brooklynn. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The following proceeded her in death: her husband of 35 years, Johnny Hatch, brothers Joe Spight and Henry Lee Spight. Two sisters: Lula Martin and Mary Catherine Spight.
Visitation will be Friday, July 21, 2023, from 12p-7p at Foster and Son Funeral Home in Ripley, MS; with the family present from 5p-7p. Service will be Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 11am at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Falkner, MS. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Ruckersville Cemetery in Falkner, MS.
