Katie L. Cox

Katie Lee Cox was granted her wings on August 17, 2023. Katie was born on December 29, 1945 to the late D.W. Luster and Bama Braddock in Ripley, MS. During her time on earth, she touched the hearts of many people. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She loved her family, visits from friends, going to yard sales, listening to the blues and gospel. Katie accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother Board, Purple Missionary Team, and Herod of Jericho Court #553.

During her work history, she was a faithful employe at Biltrite Corporation for more than 20 years. She was married to R.C. Peterson to this union one son, Ray Curtis Peterson. She was married to the late Leland Cox and to this union one daughter Jennifer Lewis. She is survived by one brother Billy (Sarah) Braddock of Ripley, MS, two sisters: Bobbie Jean (Dennis) Buggs of Grand Junction, TN and Louise (Stanley) Spight, Odessa, TX, her grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother Bama Braddock, step-father Pete Braddock, father D. W. Luster, grandmother Nodie Edgeston, grandfather, Brick Prather and Doc Luster,  brothers, Larry Braddock and John Lee Blackwell, sisters Hazel McBride Boyd and Vera Mae Johnson.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 12p-7p at Foster & Son Funeral Home in Ripley, MS; with the family present from 5p-7p. Funeral service will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 at 2p at Bethlehem MBC in Falkner, MS. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Ruckersville Cemetery in Falkner, MS.
