Josephine Carruth Storey, 83, was born September 9, 1934 to Waymon and Aline Guyton Carruth in Ripley, MS. She departed this life on May 9, 2018 at Rest Haven Health and Rehab in Ripley, MS.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the Mother Board and Adult Sunday School class. She was a faithful member until her health failed.
Josephine started school at Moses Chapel and she later went to school at St. John. She graduated from Line Street High School in 1954. She was a member of the Heroines of Jericho, St. John Court #171. She loved going to Timber Hills Mental Health Facility and interacting with everyone. She loved to cook for them as well.
When her health began to fail, she was placed in Tupelo Nursing and Rehab. She had a special niece/daughter who cared and watched over her. Josephine was transferred to Rest Haven after she was released from North Mississippi Medical Center.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Kevin Derell Storey and Tommy Ray Storey; grandchildren, Kayla Sade` Storey, Kevin Derell Storey, Jr., Precious Danielle Storey-Jefferson, and Victor Cortez Storey; six great grandchildren; one brother, Sammy Carruth; and two sisters, Loretta Rogan and Christine Barnett.
She was preceded in death by: husband, Joe David Storey; son, Billy Joe Storey; sisters: Fannie Tye, Vannie Johnson, Jestine Cox, and Hermie Batie.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 14, 2018 from 12 noon – 6 pm at Foster and Son Funeral Home in Ripley, MS. Service will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 2 pm at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Ripley, MS. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Boyd Cemetery in Ripley, MS. Services entrusted to Foster and Son Funeral Home of Ripley, MS.
