Freddie Morris Kennon, 59, departed his life Friday, February 28, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Desoto in Southhaven, MS. He was born February 24, 1961 to the late Jewel V. Kennon and the late Van Lewis Kennon.
While in Mississippi, he attended Pine Grove Elementary School. He later moved to Chicago, IL with his family. There he attended Hyde Park and graduated from Fenger High School. Freddie worked several jobs while in Chicago. His longest tenure was with Orthopedic Hospital.
Freddie was a devoted member of Moses Chapel U.M.C. until his health failed. He loved singing and praising God and spending time with his family and friends. He served on numerous committees: kitchen, custodial of the church, member of the choir and male chorus. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at dialysis. He loved helping people. He always helped push the elderly in the wheelchair at church and dialysis.
Freddie is survived by 5 children:Lorenzo Williams, Kendra Williams, Jordan, Julius and Jerika Kennon; 3 sisters: Lydia Jordan, (James), Sherlby Kennon and Veronica Kennon, all of Chicago, IL; 2 uncles: Willie Thomas Kennon and James Albert Keenon of Ripley, MS; 3 grandchildren; a special friend: Linda Leatherwood and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: A.J. and Lizzie Johnson. John Daniel Keenon and Lillie Livada Kennonand 1 brother: James Curtis Kennon. Visitation will be held Friday, March 13, 2020 from 12:00 noon- 8:00 pm at Foster and Son Funeral Home in Ripley, MS, with the family present from 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm. Service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11:00 am at Moses Chapel UMC in Ripley, MS. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.
