Frances Alice Green Beasley was born November 23, 1955, to George Green and Mattie Mae Mentora Keys.
Frances attended U.C.T.S. , and after segregation she attended and graduated from Ingomar Attendance Center in 1973 where she was an outstanding basketball player.
Frances accepted a hope in Christ at an early age, and joined Pleasant Grove M.B. Church. After being united in Holy Matrimony she joined Watson Grove M.B. Church where she served as Deaconess, Pastor Aide Committee chairperson, choir president, kitchen committee president, and church secretary. Later she returned back to Pleasant Grove and served faithfully until her health failed.
Frances worked at Munsing Wear for many years, and then joined her husband at Beasley Funeral Home, Inc. where she was secretary, and a licensed funeral director. She also served on the board for Union County Habitat for Humanity, Lift, Inc., and Union County Federation of Democratic Women.
On June 28, 1979, she married her beloved and devoted husband, Tommie Lee Beasley. They were married for 35 years.
On Monday, August 21, 2023, Frances answered her call into eternal rest at her home.
Frances leaves to cherish her memories 3 sisters: Brenda P. Farr (her primary caregiver), Mary Joyce Gilbert, and Cindy Howell all of New Albany. 2 brothers: James Green (Deb) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and George Green of New Albany, Ms. 3 stepdaughters: Valeria Beasley – Ross (Chuck) of Oxford, MS, Mary Ella Atkinson (Kendall), and Hope Bradley (Marcus) both of New Albany, MS. 5 nieces: Franita Farr, Alyssa “Paige” Wicks (Tevin), Mentora Woods, Arienna and Avianna Wicks. 6 nephews: Bryan Green, Prince Gates, Kaven Wicks, Jessie Gilbert, Jerome Gilbert, and Justin Gary. Sister- in- Law: Minerva Beasly Graham. Brother-in-law: Herman Beasley. 5 grandchildren: Courtney Jones, Tonell Byrd (Stephen), Devonte Bradley, Tevin Bradley, and Kenadee Atkinson. 5 great grandchildren, 2 adopted nieces: Jaiana Dochee and Aaliyah Pickens. Godson: Kingston Rayford
5 very special friends who were more like family: Dr. Ethel Beasley, Mrs. Gloria High, Mrs. Gloria Welch, Mrs. Glenda Wilson, and Mr. James Clark Simmons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother George Jr. Smith, brother-in -law Dr. Thurmond Beasley, and her nephew who she loved more like a son, Rev. Christopher De’Shaun Farr.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 25, 2023, from 4p-7p at Pleasant Grove MBC in New Albany, MS. Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2p at Watson Grove MBC in New Albany, MS. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove MBC in New Albany, MS.
