Tommy Henry Hughey, aka “Cat Daddy” to many, was born on June 16, 1944 to the late Pinkie Boyd Rucker and the late Hence Hughey of Ripley, Mississippi. He passed away at the Tippah County Hospital on June 18, 2018.
He professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Adkins Chapel United Methodist Church in Blue Mountain, MS. He later moved his membership to St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ripley, Mississippi.
Tom was a character and kept you laughing but he kept it real. He had a great sense of humor. He loved his family and friends dearly. He loved carpentry work and being a painter. He was a lover of music and could play that guitar.
He was married to Willie Mae Cox. During this union there were two children born.
He leaves to cherish his memories three daughters, Rilla (Martin) Girley, Berthetta (Dwight) Hatch, and Nicole (Marlon) Cox all of Ripley, MS. One son Nicholas Swinney Hughey of Corinth, MS, fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two individuals he raised as his own, a son Jimmy D Hill and a daughter, Tawanna Hill.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa McKenzie, three sisters, Bertha Johnson, Margaret Barnett, Fannie Mae Hughey, five brothers Garfield Hughey, Fred Hughey, Alvie Hughey, Nathaniel Spight, Willie Murry Braddock, and a special friend Nell Hill, He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
