Catherine Sue Thomas was born into the marriage of Bobbie and Phyllis Katherine Blake on September 14, 1965, in Seymour, IN. On February 28, 2019, Cathy departed this life after a long illness. She was the third oldest of four siblings. The family moved to Chicago where Cathy attended grammar and high school in the Chicago Public Schools.
For thirty years, Cathy worked for the Chicago Public Schools. She took a role in the Food Services department where she was promoted to Foodservice Manager. She was affectionately called “Boss Lady”. This is the role from which she retired June 2017.
Throughout Cathy’s life people were drawn to her like a magnet. She had a smile that made everyone’s day better. Most considered her the life of the party. She was a caring and sincere person who always took time to listen to others and add her two cents to the conversation.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Dennis Edward Thomas; her mother, Phyllis Katherine Starks; her father, Bobbie Blake; her children: Renita Sellers, Danais Thomas, LaShawna (Michael) Eldridge, Charles Thomas, Dennis Thomas Jr., Nicole (Terry) Young, Joshua Thomas, Yahra Thomas, Mary Thomas, Anthony Lee Jr., Tyler Thomas, and D’Mari Thomas; twenty-six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her siblings, Kimberly Diggs and Bonita Starks; her special daughter, Neshell Robinson, her Goddaughter, Morgan Evans; her special friends, LaJewel Williams, Linda Fussell, Melody Hall, and Joadrea Ross; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Her sister Rhonda Jean Blake preceded her in death.
