Wilson Cox was born to the union of Mr. William and Geniva Blackwell Cox on April 26, 1951 in the White Oak Community in Ripley, MS.

As a teenager, Wilson professed a hope in Christ and was baptized and united in Christian fellowship with Moses Chapel UMC. Later in life he joined Ripley Second Baptist and fellowshipped with Terry Street Church of Christ.

Wilson had a strong work ethic and worked in the industrial industry for many years before he found his gift that God blessed him with a Licensed/Bond Contractor for over 25 years.

In 1973, he united in holy matrimony to Johnnie Ratliff Cox.

Wilson memory will be cherished by his four sons: Pastor Eric (Janice) Ratliff of Starksville, MS, Tommeall Graham Lee of Paducah, KY, Bradley Shane (Jennifer) Prather and Ivin (Tawanda) Cox of Ripley, MS; twelve grandchildren: Jermaine, Jasper, and Erica of Starksville, MS, Laquita Prather, Cord Thomas, Aylissa Coleman, Zeria Prather, Bradley Shane Prather, Jr., Olivia Prather, Cobe Cox, Lakin Cox, and Bryson Cox all of Ripley, MS; six great-grandchildren; six sisters: Lorie Crum and Margret (Charles) Jackson of Youngstown, OH, Willie (Walter) Latham of Los Angeles, CA, Doris Cox of Birmingham, AL, Twattie Faye Cole of Ripley, MS and Ruth (Joe) Vance of Blue Mountain, MS; one brother, Melvin (Darlene) Cox of Ripley, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Wilson was proceeded in death by his parents, five sisters: Lonnie V, Johnny Jewel, Mary Helen, Gloria Ann, Catherine Geniva; and four brothers: Lellon Cox, Raymond Cox, Henry Cowan, and Willie T. Cowan.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 from 12 noon– 8 pm at Foster and Son Funeral Home in Ripley, MS.  Service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11 am at Union Grove United Methodist Church in Ripley, MS. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.  Interment will follow at Union Grove Cemetery in Ripley, MS.  Services entrusted to Foster and Son Funeral Home of Ripley, MS.
