Shelley E. Eggleston, 73, was born September 1, 1944 to Elizabeth Ann Sweatt-Lee and Robert Eggleston in Chicago, IL. He departed his earthly life at his home on February 6, 2018.
Shelley, better known as Gene, was a sporty and dressy man. He was employed at Biltrite for many years.
He was married to Joan on May 3, 2008 and they have one daughter, Elizabeth. Shelley was a member of Christ Victory Missionary Baptist Church of Falkner, MS. He was very devoted to his church as a deacon and usher. Also, he was a Mason.
Whenever Shelley was around, you could always get a smile and he was a willing worker at any church he fellowshipped with. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Ann Sweatt-Lee and Robert Eggleston; nine siblings: Gayann, Sammy, Cleo, Daryl, Alvin, Glenn, Robert, Detria, and Dennis. He was also preceded in death by his son, Johnny Hatch.
He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Joann Eggleston of Ripley, MS; daughter, Elizabeth (Terry) Smith of Ripley, MS; two brothers, Bishop Derrick Lee and Martin Lee of Chicago, IL; sister Trina Lee of Longbeach, CA; five grandchildren: Rev. Lowell (Sara) Gibbs, Tiffany Fields, Johnathan (Trinity) Hatch, Tierra and Cameron Smith; nine great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Minnie Hatch; three sister-in-laws: Rena M. Edgeston, Shirley Faye (Will) Prather of Ripley, MS and Rev. Marid Lee Cook of Chicago, IL.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 12 noon – 6 pm at Foster and Son Funeral Home in Ripley, MS. Service will be held Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 2 pm at Christ Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Falkner, MS. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Ruckersville Cemetery in Falkner, MS. Services entrusted to Foster and Son Funeral Home of Ripley, MS.
