Russell Eugene Johnson was born on March 6, 1937 to the late Will Johnson and the late Jo Ellen Clemmer Johnson in Ripley, MS. At the age of 80, On October 8, 2017, Russell went to be with our Lord and Savior.

Russell accepted Christ at an early age at Adkins Chapel Methodist Church in Blue Mountain, MS. Later in life, he became a member of Union Prospect Baptist Church in Blue Mountain, MS.

He joined the United States Army on January 24, 1956 and was honorably discharged on February 28, 1962.

He married Sennie Eugene Blackwell on May 4, 1962 in Chicago, IL. Russell worked at the Chicago O’Hara International Airport until his health started to fail.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Sennie Johnson of Ripley, MS; daughter, Michelle (Gary) Barnes of Ripley, MS; son, Reggie Johnson of Memphis, TN; sister, Jo Ann (Frank) Miller of Indiana, IN; eight brothers: Andy (Fairella) Johnson of San Antonio, TX, Dan (Martha) Johnson of Chicago, IL, John (Donna) Johnson of Starkville, MS, Billy (Theresa) Johnson of Ripley, MS, Bobby (Delores) Johnson of Chicago, IL, Lee (Rose) Johnson of Ripley, MS, Ray (Sandy) Johnson of Chicago, IL and Larry (Leanna) Johnson of Milwaukee, WI; grandson, Gary (Ashley) Barnes, Jr.; great granddaughter, Angel Barnes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Russell is proceeded in death by his son, David Johnson and two brothers, Charles Johnson and Willie Johnson.
