Edward Carter

David "Edward" Carter was born May 2, 1929 to the late Marie Carter and Jim Stricklin in Ripley, MS. He departed his earthly life on February 28, 2018 at Diversicare Nursing Home in Ripley, MS.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mrs. Virlena Thomas Carter. To this union five children were born. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memories: Marie Cox, Charles (Wanda) Carter, Linda Joe (Jimmy) Cox, John Henry Carter and Sammy Thomas Carter all of Ripley, MS; one brother, Charles (Patricia) Stricklin of Ripley, MS; three sisters: Mary Lou Wilson, Betty (Jimmy) Crockett and Glenda (Roy) Jeanes of Milwaukee, WI; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, twenty-one great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virlena Carter and two sisters, Eloris Farmer and Victoria Prather.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 5, 2018 from 12 noon – 7 pm at Foster and Son Funeral Home in Ripley, MS.  Service will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 1 pm at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Ripley, MS. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.  Interment will follow at St. John Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Ripley, MS.  Services entrusted to Foster and Son Funeral Home of Ripley, MS.
